Hong Kong artist Stephanie Sin joins 64 Hong Kong and China based artists to “KLOMP!” – recreating the traditional Dutch clogs for a charity auction. The Auction Preview Exhibition at Three Pacific Place showcases the complete collection of 65 pairs of clogs and viewers are welcome to place silent bid for the desired clogs on site through online access. All proceeds go directly to support the China educational project of Oxfam Hong Kong.
KLOMP! is a cross-cultural design-for-charity event. Hong Kong and China based artists and designers were given a pair of original Dutch wooden shoes ('Clogs' in English, 'Klompen' in Dutch), with the belief to ‘do something with them’ while keeping the original clog recognisable in some form. The clogs would be exhibited and auctioned with the proceeds donated to charity. The iconic, authentic Dutch clog combined with the unique local Hong Kong point-of-view of the artists resulted in a series of wonderful works. Klomp! was first presented as part of the Detour programme of the Business of Design Week 2008, Hong Kong.
