Rick Lewis at the Millay Colony for the Arts, New York

American artist Rick Lewis has received the residency award for the June 2009 session at the Millay Colony for the Arts, Austerlitz, New York, a residency programme that promotes the vitality of the arts and the development of writers, visual artists, and composers by providing a retreat for creative work.

During Rick’s one-month residency, he will continue evokes out his interaction with specific places he visited through his artworks, particularly from his recent trip to Bali, Indonesia. A collection of handmade maps he made in Bali will be further developed at the Millay Colony, as a direct response to Rick’s artistic life path, landscape and senses of places.
