Antoinette Rozan’s Alexandre Yersin bust at the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences
15 Jul,2009

The French Consul has placed an order to French artist Antoinette Rozan for a bust of French physician and bacteriologist Alexandre Yersin and will inaugurate it in July at the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences in Sheung Wan.

The Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences, established in 1996, is an unique institution charting the historical development of medical sciences in Hong Kong. Alexandre Emile Jean Yersin (September 22, 1863–March 1, 1943) was a French (born Swiss) physician and bacteriologist. Along with Shibasaburo Kitasato he is remembered as the co-discoverer of the bacillus responsible for the bubonic plague or pest, which was re-named in his honour (Yersinia pestis).
