"W.A.R." a solo show of S Teddy Darmawan at ARK Gallery,  Jakarta

31 October 2009

After finishing his big project for the Singapore National Museum, Teddy felt an urge to highlight the issue of war. He wants to give the world a shout, that war is already enough, for whatever reasons claimed to be. Nations and politicians wage war with furnished justified reasons, but how could people relate righteousness to war when war has been stealing the very first right of each human being: a life?

Nasirun's solo exhibition, "Salam Bekti", at Sangkring Art Space, Indonesia

28 September - 12 October, 2009

Nasirun's solo exhibition, "Salam Bekti", is held at Sangkring Art Space,Yogyakarta, Indonesia from 28 September till 12 October 2009. It is an amazing exhibition in a truly unique space belonging to another Indonesian artist represented by Sin Sin, Putu Sutawijaya.

"SALAM BEKTI" is a spiritual and traditional reading of deep longing, identity philosophy and totemic relationships.

Nasirun believes that if heaven leaked, the leakings transformed into drippings that subsequesntly turned into Indonesia. He said that, like a metaphor, a surprising statement breaks negative opinions all around, yet, honesty opens the door of courage to a dream. One could interpret Nasirun's vision as a sources of his values and creativity.

Batman and Robin lamps, design by ZMIK

If you missed the Batman and Robin lamps featured in the last newsletter, we are happy to inform you Batman & Robin is an ongoing installation.

Thanks to its unique characteristics a lamp manages to transform just a space into a unique surrounding. Let us quickly familiarize you with Batman and its inseparable friend Robin.

Batman is a pendant luminaire. Its shade is folded out of a single piece of alu composite using the core of the sandwich material as a hinge. The well reflecting surface of the alu coating provides a balanced and atmospheric light. The edges of the shade glow due to the translucent core material. Batman emits a wide light cone.

Robin is also a pendant luminaire. Its shade is folded out of a single piece of alu composite using the core of the sandwich material as a hinge. The well reflecting surface of the alu coating provides a balanced and atmospheric light. The edges of the shade glow due to the translucent core material.
Robin as opposed to Batman emits a narrow light cone.

Batman & Robin lamps are available for sale. Welcome them into your world for HK$2,800.

Gomme Necklace, design by Sounds of Silence

We are pleased to introduce you to Gomme Necklace, an innovative new jewelry collection.

This 100% latex necklace by Sounds of Silence is playful yet precious.

Sounds of Silence is a collaboration between the architect Petra Eichler and the artist and director Susanne Kessler, both based in Frankfurt/Germany.
"Sounds of Silence" is equally the name of their first project, a series of installations about different qualities of silence,  that founded their collaboration in 2005. Their works, so far installations, objects and environments, create experiencable athmospheres that invite the audience to be part of it.

The classic pearl necklace is reinterpreted and transformed with the light and hard-wearing material latex into two-dimensionality.
