"The Dance of Remembering" by Putu Sutawijaya

Exhibition Period: 12th September - 31st October, 2014

Sin Sin Fine Art is delighted to present a solo exhibition by reknown Indonesian artist, Putu Sutawijaya. It is a special honour since he rarely participates in exhibitions, let alone a solo exhibition. His works are much sought after. In this "The Dance of Remembering" solo exhibition, Putu is showing his latest paintings. Putu dances through his paintings. Not only that his paintings often depict dancing-like movements, but the way he moves when he paints is akin to dancing; his brush strokes literally dance on his canvases. For Putu, the act of dancing and painting are one: it is the act of living, of remembering who we were, who we are, who we are becoming. His paintings are a biographical record of his memory, which has been transformed and re-intepreted through the act of remembering. They are rich with both personal and cultural symbols, dynamically moving.
