On 15th Januarary we have opened Chinese Contemporary Ink Art - Sun Guanyi's solo exhibition Beyond Heavens at Sin Sin Fine Art.

This series of artworks are undoubtedly related to his Buddhist practice. More importantly his Buddhist practice does not exist as an artistic pursuit or subject of interest, it is the devotion of his life. Thank you for coming to the opening and sharing our 12 year-journey with Sun Guangyi.

For February 2016, we wish all of you a wonderful Chinese New Year to celebrate. May all good things come your way.

Chinese Contemporary Ink Art - Beyond Heavens 天外有天

Artist: Sun Guangyi (Chinese)

Exhibition Duration: 15 January – 28 February 2016

Venue: Sin Sin Fine Art, 52 Sai Street, Central, HK

Sin Sin Fine Art delightfully presented a solo exhibition by Sun Guangyi, entitled “Beyond Heavens” – it shows the result of his most recent contemplative discoveries: there are many layers of heaven, many layers of blessing - one after another. It is a distillation of his spiritual journey in twelve years of devoted, self-determined search for the ultimate peace of a freed soul.

This series of artworks came after his retreat at Meili, they are expressed through clear and carefree ink movements, which makes viewers feel deeply the influence Zen practice has on his life and art.  Instead of saying that Guanyi’s artworks stand out from the overwhelming trend of Contemporary Ink Art, it may be better to say that they have unveiled to us a brand new possibility: abstract, but closely related to the genes of Eastern civilization, navigating through ontology language to express enlightenment.

The exhibition will run until 28th Feburary, come to witness the magnificant by yourself!

ROAD TRIP TO CALIFORNIA 2015

Date: 23 Jan – 20 Feb, 2016

Venue: Sangkring Art Space, Yogyakarta – Indonesia

"I got closer with the other artists and that we became a Brotherhood. We had a special time together and a special bond. Because we are all artists, we were able to create a dialogue and share our experiences with each other. We speak the same language” Putu Sutawijaya’s statement on his interview during the "Road Trip To California 2015"

Interview with Putu Sutawijaya

On September 12, 2015, Baik Art sent four Asian artists on a road trip to central and northern California. From September 13 to September 21, Ahmad Zakii Anwar, Heri Dono, Kow Leong Kiang and Putu Sutawijaya traveled together visiting many natural sites, including Big Sur and Yosemite National Park. The experience culminated in an open studios event at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica on September 22.

Together, Anwar, Dono, Kiang and Sutawijaya visited Hearst Castle, Big Sur, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Yosemite National Park. At Hearst Castle, they explored California’s central coastline, and during their two days spent in Big Sur, the artists looked for sea otters and other sea creatures. They saw redwood trees and stopped to visit various surfing destinations. Their drive near Half-Moon Bay Area brought them close to Crystal Springs Reservoir and Mavericks, where some of the largest surfable waves on earth can be found.

Throughout the eight-day-long road trip, Ahmad Zakii Anwar, Heri Dono, Kow Leong Kiang and Putu Sutawijaya considered ways in which these natural and historical places had influenced their art practices.
